Denise made an audio recording of one of her lessons, and is sharing it part of it with you.  This portion of the the lesson focuses on the ABCs:  Arms, Base of support, and Connection.

In this episode:

  • A trot warm up exercise to lengthen and secure the riders leg.
  • Arm awareness and its effect on the horse's carriage and balance.
  • Connection: riding the horse "from back to front".
  • How the rider's  seat, hips and legs create a solid "base of support".
  •  Effect of Base and Arms on posture and security of rider as well as the movement of the horse.


Denise Youell, a USHJA certified hunter/jumper horse trainer and barn owner, draws on her experiences from over 30 years of professional work in the industry by sharing knowledge and ideas to help with riding and caring for horses.
